Leader of the Kazakhstan insurance market since 1995

Eurasia Insurance Company: the country’s largest insurer and reinsurer

JSC “Insurance Company “Eurasia” has operated on the Kazakhstan market since 1995 and for many years has held first place by volume of insurance premiums collected and claims paid. The company engages in general insurance: it protects cars, real estate, cargo, business risks, health and the liability of individuals and organisations. In 2025 Eurasia accounted for 25.6% of the market by premiums collected, and in September 2026 it became the first insurance company in Kazakhstan to receive a financial strength rating of “A-” from AM Best.

History and scale

The company began as a small Almaty insurer and then step by step expanded its product range and geography. In its early stage Eurasia took on the insurance of payment terminals, cash-handling units, valuables in transit and the property of motor transport companies, and then expanded beyond Almaty and the Almaty region. Today, according to the ARDFM, the company has 19 branches: in Astana (three), Almaty (two), Pavlodar, Kostanay, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda, Atyrau, Aktau, Shymkent, Aktobe, Petropavlovsk, Semey, Uralsk, Taldykorgan and Kokshetau, as well as a branch in the Republic of India, in the GIFT City special economic zone, Gujarat.

A separate strength of the company is international reinsurance. Eurasia accepts risks from partners in dozens of countries, and as of 1 January 2026 it accounted for almost half (49.83%) of all inward reinsurance in Kazakhstan. The company’s history includes participation in the reinsurance programme for Ariane-5 launch vehicle launches from the Kourou spaceport, inclusion by the European Space Agency in its list of reliable space risk insurers, membership of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) and payments on major international events, from the loss of spacecraft to the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan.

The company is also known as the organiser of the annual International Risk Management Conference, at which well-known economists have spoken, and as the author of the “Saktau” system, which makes it possible to verify the authenticity of insurance policies.

Reliability in rating figures

Eurasia’s rating history is one of the longest in the country. For many years the company consistently received upgrades from S&P Global Ratings, from “B+” to the current “BBB+”. On 11 September 2026 the agency raised the long-term credit rating and the financial strength rating to “BBB+”, noting improved profitability and an exceptional liquidity cushion. A few days later, on 16 September 2026, AM Best upgraded the financial strength rating from “B++” to “A-”, the first time for a Kazakhstani insurer.

For the client this means something simple: the company has substantial capital, places its assets conservatively and reinsures risks with leading global reinsurers, so it is able to pay out on both routine and very large losses.
