Professional Liability Insurance
Professional liability insurance is insurance of a specialist's liability in the event that, as a result of their professional activity, they cause property or other harm to third parties. Professional liability insurance is a voluntary type of insurance, which means that all the terms can be agreed with the Insurance Company by agreement of the parties, but of course relying on the Insurance Rules. Liability insurance is a necessary type of insurance for companies that work with the public and a wide range of consumers, because this increases the likelihood of an insured event that may cause harm to the consumer. As for the popularity of professional liability insurance, it can be said that this type of insurance is gaining popularity as the number of consumers of specific services grows among specialists, mainly medical workers, lawyers, auditors and other specialists with a high level of personal professionalism, who, like all people, are nevertheless prone to mistakes and shortcomings in their work.
Professional liability insurance consists in the insurance protection of persons in a certain range of professions (private practice doctors, notaries, appraisers, auditors, etc.) against claims and lawsuits from clients and third parties.
Property claims and lawsuits brought against individuals or legal entities may be related to negligence, carelessness, errors and omissions in professional activity or services. When an insurance contract is concluded, the Insurer deals with the satisfaction of property claims.
The subject of the Contract is professional liability insurance, which provides for insurance payments in the amount of partial or full compensation of damage caused to third parties due to erroneous actions (inaction) or omissions in the course or as a result of professional activity carried out by the Policyholder (the Insured) on the basis of a special permit (licence, patent, etc.) or requiring specialized knowledge, experience or qualifications.
Professional liability insurance for the provision of professional services (work) is guaranteed in the relationships of persons of certain specialties: architects, medical staff, advocates, lawyers, private enforcement agents, security guards, insurance and stock brokers, customs agents, etc.
The property interests of the Policyholder (the Insured) related to their liability for causing harm to the life, health or property of third parties as a result of performing work, providing services, etc. are not considered the subject of insurance if this activity is in no way related to the Policyholder's main work or does not directly arise from it.
