Many company managers assume that buying insurance services on favourable terms is a task that does not require special qualifications from the employee entrusted with it.
Practice shows that this results in large costs and capital losses, and sometimes creates additional problems when an insured event occurs. To avoid all of the above, Polis Re offers its services in professional risk placement.
Here are just a few of the advantages for you:
- Our services are free of charge to you;
- We bear responsibility for the contracts concluded with our participation;
- Ongoing advice whenever questions arise about insurance contracts;
- The most favourable insurance terms;
- Savings of your money, time, labour, nerves and intellectual resources;
- Building your positive image in the insurance market.

What risk placement is
Risk placement is the transfer to the insurer (and, where necessary, to reinsurers) of responsibility for a company’s possible losses on agreed terms. For a small policy it may be a simple purchase, but for enterprise property, liability, cargo or a construction project the contract terms differ greatly between insurers. A sum insured that looks the same at first glance may conceal different exclusions, deductibles, sub-limits for individual risks and documentation requirements in the event of a loss.
Why buying insurance on your own is risky
- Only the price is compared. A cheap policy is often cheap because of narrow cover or a high deductible.
- Exclusions go unnoticed. Events that matter to the business may be excluded in the small print of the insurance rules.
- The sum insured is set incorrectly. Underinsurance leads to a proportional reduction of the payment.
- Information is disclosed incompletely. Errors in the application can become grounds for refusing payment.
- You are left alone with the loss. Settling a large claim requires knowledge of the procedure and the ability to negotiate persuasively with the insurer.
How a broker works
- Risk analysis. We study the company’s activities, property, contracts with counterparties, loss history and the insurance requirements of banks or customers.
- Terms of reference. We draw up the list of risks, sums insured, limits and acceptable deductibles.
- Request for proposals. We send the brief to several insurers and, where necessary, organise a tender.
- Comparison and negotiation. We compare the proposals not only by price but also by scope of cover, exclusions and payment terms, and negotiate better terms.
- Concluding the contract. We check the text of the contract and the rules before signing.
- Ongoing support. We advise throughout the term, make amendments and prepare the renewal.
- Help with a loss. We help collect documents, liaise with the insurer and surveyors, and monitor payment deadlines.
Which risks we help place
- enterprise property: buildings, equipment, goods in warehouses;
- civil liability to third parties, professional liability;
- cargo in transit, vehicle fleets, construction and erection risks;
- employee insurance, including OSRNS and voluntary health insurance;
- large and non-standard risks that require reinsurance.
For more on the types of protection, see the business property insurance section. For large objects where the capacity of a single insurer is insufficient, reinsurance is used.
Why the broker’s services are free for the client
As a rule, the broker’s remuneration is included in the insurance premium and paid by the insurer. The client pays the same premium as when applying directly to an insurance company, but receives a comparison of proposals and support throughout the contract.
What to prepare to get started
- a brief description of the company’s activities and the objects to be insured;
- existing insurance contracts, if any;
- information on losses in previous periods;
- insurance requirements of banks, lessors or customers;
- desired timing and budget.
Frequently asked questions
Can I work with a broker if contracts have already been concluded?
Yes. A broker can analyse the existing policies, point out gaps in cover and prepare improved terms for the next renewal.
Do I have to change my insurer?
No. The broker’s task is to find the best terms; sometimes this means staying with the current insurer, but on better terms. You can see the list of market participants on the insurance companies page.
